Why Give
At AJLA, we strive to ensure that our students and their families are afforded a transformative educational experience. Tuition accounts for 10% of the operating budget and all families pay tuition on a sliding scale. We partner with our generous supporters to cover up to 90% of the cost to provide a truly high-quality educational experience for our students and families.
Adam J. Lewis Academy (AJLA) is a co-educational PreK-Grade 8 privately funded independent school serving children and families from the Bridgeport community. Bridgeport operates the largest school district in the state, yet consistently ranks towards the bottom of all public school systems in Connecticut. AJLA offers a high-quality education to positively influence the lives and futures of children from Bridgeport. Our goal is to close this achievement gap through an empowering and innovative student-focused program that helps build a more hopeful and equitable future for our students. We can’t do this without your continued support.
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is a yearly effort that directly supports our students, parents, and faculty in the current school year. At AJLA, the cost to educate a student is $20,000. Your partnership bridges the gap between this cost and what families pay, safeguarding against tuition becoming a barrier to admission. The Annual Fund also supports faculty salaries, professional development, and parent programming.
Endowment
Gifts to the endowment provide a permanent source of income that strengthen AJLA and serve to uphold its mission and future. Endowed gifts provide a reliable source of income that allows the school to continue investing in the excellence of its students, faculty and campus opportunities. Capital Projects
This year, AJLA is undertaking three capital projects as we create a vibrant campus in downtown Bridgeport. The turf field was recently completed, and we are currently renovating a STEAM Maker Space and Middle School Classrooms. Capital Funds are essential to the growth and continued success of AJLA.
